.Best Pre-Yoga Edible

After my initial stoner phase from 17 to 19, I took a break from weed, except during moments of grief or stress, when I would use it to help me gain clarity around a painful situation, or a sense of groundedness in my body.

I began to understand cannabis as something other than a frat party amplifier—I attended too many UC Berkeley fraternity parties in my later youth—and more as something that could help me better understand myself.

Even so, it was still several years after that realization when I began to understand the nuances of the plant and how different strains, ingested in different ways, could serve myriad purposes. In 2020, I began to investigate in more earnestness, and just this year I discovered the Kiva Camino Sours, my favorite edible to date.

For those looking for a slower release, more escalator-style high, with a balanced THC:CBD blend so things don’t get too loose—too much THC can send me to outer space if I’m not careful—Caminos are the answer. They’re subtle and supportive: perfect just before a yoga session. I recommend a Camino, 60 minutes on the mat while listening to the Welcome Home album by Shrimpnose and a salt bath. Tension you didn’t know you were carrying will unravel.

Kiva is a Bay Area company founded in 2010 by awesome cannabis-forward couple Scott and Kristi Palmer. Their love of quality cannabis products has turned them into the number one edibles brand in the country. So it’s not just my preference. These are the gummies you want.
