.Skate Estate: Greenbrae’s Reese Forbes

If one knows pro skateboarding, they’ve heard the name Reese Forbes. He’s such a humble guy, though, that one sort of has to drag that out of him these days.

What do you do?

Great question. I’m now in real estate but am also a recovering skateboarder, nursing a 17-year pro career. Happy dad, husband and dog owner.

Where do you live?

Currently, Greenbrae, but you and I first met in San Anselmo, which I miss!

How long have you lived in Marin?

Seven years.

Where can we find you when you’re not at work?

Driving my kids far too much—I actually love it. Sometimes in the city riding my board. Giving the occasional skate lesson at Proof Lab. Doing yoga at Red Dragon.

If you had to convince someone how awesome Marin is, where would you take them?

On a hike. It sort of sums it up… Sausalito is also in Marin; just a reminder.

What’s one thing Marin is missing?

Spago?! Maybe we don’t need the glitz and glam, but I held the door for Sidney Poitier there once.

What’s one bit of advice you’d share with your fellow Marinites?

Let’s Go! Just kidding; let’s go lower case.

If you could invite anyone to a special dinner, who would they be?

Any active BBC journalist covering current major events. Colin Powell. JFK. And maybe Alfred Hitchcock. And Sidney Poitier.

What is some advice you wish you knew 20 years ago?

Save consistently. A little planning wouldn’t hurt.

What is something that in 20 years from now will seem cringeworthy? The current state of hip-hop!

Big question. What is one thing you’d do to change the world?

Eliminate the production of Fentanyl.
