A Workshop Performance Benefitting ‘The Living Room’
by Gamal Abdel Chasten
directed by Marieke Gaboury
February 26-28, 2021
6th Street Playhouse–Virtual Stage
featuring Gamal Abdel Chasten as Crawfish
We see the homeless. Or do we?
In 50 minutes, Gamal Abdel Chasten’s one-man show uses poetry, spoken word and haunting
percussion to shed light on one man’s journey from ‘home’ to ‘homelessness.
Why Crawfish: We, the invisible…?
“A show for our times. Theater is a way for people to connect and experience other lives and points of view. Through theater we can generate compassion and insight. Gamal takes us on a gritty, explosive, sometimes humors but always eye-opening ride that reveals the humanity of the homeless. People faced with both tragedy and humor. He helps us understand and connect.” Jared Sakren, Artisitc Director
“When you can get to know the person inside, when you can relate one human being to another, when you can truly see the other then you are compelled to help and to heal. That is my goal.” Gamal Chasten
“Each syllable is a melodic playground. Punch lines jolt: You might not be sure if you’re allowed to laugh.” Lily Janiak, Datebook Pick, San Francisco Chronicle
